Assignment Objective:  Students should be able to identify key components in the making of a newspaper for print, they will be able to use the Microsoft Publisher Software to design magazine covers and inside layouts, use research methods to write original articles, create advertisements and indexes and have a good understanding of how to demonstrate their topic in a proper magazine format using technology.

Assignment Part 1 : Create a 6 page magazine using publisher software; the assignment must include the following elements

1. Front and Back Cover
2. Headlines and news insert around your topic area
3. Proper layout techniques for the cover and for the inside pages that follow magazine format rules
4. Index or contents with corresponding page numbers
5. 6 – 10 Original stories – all stories and articles in your magazine must be written in your own words, you can use facts from other news or stories to include in your article.
6. Create 3 advertisements
7. Competitions
8. Magazine Contributors
9. Images for your design and story
10. Good design for your topic

11. The magazine will be printed out in class time and bound; you will need to submit your plan and magazine on the due date.

Homework: All grade 6 Computer Students should be working on their two newspaper articles for their group Newspaper Project this should be included in the weekly homework set for your child. Ask to see their work and talk to them about it.
