Class: Grade Seven / 2010-2011

Pre-requisites: Grade 6 Computers

Course Goals: Students will gain experience in research techniques, bibliography, image editing, video production, web design, information technology and file management using image editing programs, web editors, and animation programs Microsoft Word 2007 and excel spreadsheet. Students will be exposed to a variety of computer applications focusing on content creation in Web based and Print environments through a series of project-based modules. The program is run in the computer laboratory and focuses on lecture and practical based tuition through exercises, set tasks and project based research.

Unit Description: WordPress Blog

Students will learn how to set up a WordPress Blog for their classes they will also develop skills in digital literacy’s and how to communicate effectively using a variety of media tools to express their ideas and opinions.

Students will be taught to submit assignment materials online and critically discuss and share feedback to their peers work.

Unit Description: Media Brochure

Students will learn to create a brochure on an allocated media topic; they will research their topic and collate information to be presented in their brochures.

 Assignment: Media Brochure, Media Presentation

Software: Microsoft Publisher, Presentation Software

 Unit Description: Demonstrate IT, Teach IT,  YouTube IT / Video Production for the web

Students will learn to create, edit and upload a demonstration video on a self chosen topic outlining the process and procedures of the learning that they want to take place.

Assignment: Demonstration Video, YouTube Upload, Presentation of project using a presentation software / Prezi / Jing / Video Presentation

Unit Description: Information Technology

Students learn about new developing technologies, database, networking solutions, Software Development and Programming

  • collect, analyze and organize data and information
  • communicate ideas and information in hard copy and electronic means to a target audience
  • apply information based technologies to the problem solving process
  • apply mathematical ideas and techniques when applying software to specific tasks
  • Apply a variety and range of hardware and software technologies to demonstrate competencies.

Unit Description: Beginner Level Web Page Design Macromedia Dreamweaver

Students will learn how to create a Macromedia Dreamweaver web-site with banners, buttons and interactive elements.

Assignment: Web-site / Graphics /

Unit Description: Beginner Level / Image Editing & Digital Photography: Adobe Photoshop

Basic Interface Skills, Tool Bars, Adobe environments for print and online.

Assignment: Self Image/ Character Project, Photography Portfolio, Animated  Story

Unit  Description:  Beginner Level Adobe Flash ( Animation )

Students will be introduced to Flash, they will learn about the Flash Interface and tools, and how to create a Flash SWF movie file, and animation, students will also complete a series of tutorials for their online portfolios.

Assignment: Flash Animation, Completed Tutorials, Student Class-Tasks, Presentation

The student will demonstrate a sound knowledge in Microsoft products, Adobe Photoshop, and Dreamweaver; they will also understand how to use digital cameras, scanners, usb, and burning techniques.

The student will also explore and have experience with animation, research techniques and applying learnt applications to various projects for online and hardcopy delivery

B. The student will be able to:

The student will demonstrate a sound knowledge in Microsoft products, Adobe Photoshop, and Dreamweaver; they will also understand how to use digital cameras, scanners, usb, and burning techniques. The student will also explore and have experience with animation, research techniques and applying learnt applications to various projects for online and hardcopy delivery

  • Understand, evaluate, and create projects using a variety of software suitable to the project requirement.
  • Create online projects and integrate image, audio, animation, and video.
  • Understand, emerging technologies in the online and print environment.
