Unit Description: Students will explore the medium of Black and White and color photography, they will work with different styles of Portrait, Landscape, Abstract, Fashion, Art house photography; students will also learn how to color correct and manipulate images using image editing software for online and print environments plus learn various tutorials on fantasy image creation.
Assignment: Students will create a collection of photographs from their class tasks for final output onto an e-portfolio, they will work with resolution and web file sizes for online output.
Students will also demonstrate their understanding of the key principals discussed by writing a reflective summary for each of their images in the portfolio.
Illustrator
Unit Description:
Adobe Illustrator is a sophisticated graphics application that helps you to create complex and attractive designs with type effects. You can create logos, advertisements, and other illustrations with ease using this software. However, creating complex designs can be overwhelming if you are not familiar with the tools present in Adobe Illustrator and their features. In this course, you will learn to use Adobe Illustrator by drawing and manipulating simple shapes to create logos. You will also combine text and graphics to create advertisements.
Unit Objective: You will use Adobe Illustrator to create illustrations such as logos, brochures, artwork and advertisements that include type and graphics.
Target Student: This Unit is intended for students that are interested in becoming graphic designers, publishers, pre-press professionals,
Delivery Method: Instructor led, group-paced delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.

The power of Branding and logo’s – Conditional Media. An investigative look into advertising and marketing concepts and how these theories are translated and targeted towards the mainstream. Students will learn about the ways in which everyday media and advertising are affecting our buying choices and driving our economy. Reading between the lines and symbolism in the media. A look into emerging technologies within a global society and how these technologies are communicating with each other to collect data and information about the consumer. Class Task Create a travel brochure, that reflects your target audience and sales market, included in this task will be the creation of a travel logo, ,and focus on brochure design, wording and layout, Software: Illustrator Minor Project 1 Design a T-shirt line and branding and packaging concept that encompasses packaging, product and logo design for the youth market. Software: Adobe Photoshop, In design, Illustrator. Major Project 2 Research Paper Students will write a 1000 word research paper on a chosen topic from the teacher. Presenting Information Students will develop skills in researching and presenting information using varied media applications on a specific topic. Project 3 Presentation, including audio, video, animation and graphics. This project involves presenting researched information on a specific topic; students will learn presentation techniques, public speaking skills, and information gathering skills to get the attention of their audiences and present facts in an interesting and compelling way. Project 4 Image storytelling – students will develop a digital story with images, using varied software such as Flash, Image Ready. Project 5 – Group Project E-zine/Magazine Students will develop their own data and marketing research program, this information will be translated to target an international youth magazine for print and online audiences. |

It generally refers to a single shutter cycle.
Offset : a printing technique where the inked image is transferred from a plate to a rubber blanket, then to the printing surface
Gamma : Gamma is used to maintain the original color of the photograph. It revises color of the monitor of computer.
